When I saw this eye shadow duo at Dischem, the shape of the eye shadow caught my eye. The wavy bit of the duo reminded me of MAC extra dimension skin finish Whisper of Guilt, which I never got my hands on. (I weep silently when I stalk eBay and want to faint when I see it going for 2k-4k, yes that wasn’t a typo) But I’m not that Kray Kray and I did find a dupe for that. I have a review for that coming soon.
The colour I chose was Irresistible Vanilla Latte 08 (light brassy gold with pale white gold). The MAC extra dimension eye shadow I use and you can see in the picture that it is well loved) is in the shade A Natural Flirt (Champagne peachy nude that I use all over my eye and is a great highlighter)
Both shadows feel soft on the lid and there’s no drama with application but to be fair the MAC shadow applies a bit smoother and more evenly.
The Essence 3D has a satin/ metallic finish with shimmer that creates the 3D effect. The MAC in extra dimension eye shadow combines a cream, liquid and powder shadow. It is a finely milled eye shadow with a hint of pearl shimmer. Both shadows blend easily and when used over primer can wear up to 6-8 hours.
When swatched side-by-side, they’re looked very close and the Essence shadow was more pigmented! I was shocked and heard the angels’ sing – then a taxi hooted and I woke up from my daydream and guess what? The swatches were really there and I can’t tell you how stoked I am about it.
So here’s the deal! (drum roll please) – you get 2,8g of product with the essence eyes shadow and 1,3g of product with the MAC eye shadow. – That’s double the amount! It’s not limited edition so you don’t have to wait for another MAC collection to get your hands on one.
My only regret with the Essence 3D was that I didn’t pick up more!
