Spritz or Miss? Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray {Review}

urbandecayprepsprayfeat

After moisturising before applying your makeup, your skin can feel a bit irritated and sometimes turn red. It maybe the redness of ones natural complexion or the weather or how many glasses of wine you’ve had. More often than not, it is ones skin care, so if you skin is agitated, you may want to look into and re-evaluate your skin care regime because if that’s the cause of the irritation and your skin care is doing more harm than good, it probably needs to change. I personally do not use a toner and haven’t for the past 10 years. I spray Avene Thermal mist on my face before I add my eye cream and serums. I find that the moisture helps lock in the products and it feels cooling and refreshing. Maybe it is a placebo effect and all in my mind, but it does feel nice.

So this Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray, as the name suggests, is to be used to prep the skin. It has the ‘first stabilized form of B6 and this absorbs oil, minimizes pores, and reduces redness.’ The claims remind me of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer water without the vitamin infused claim. On the other hand it doesn’t claim to make your makeup last longer like the Smashbox Primer water does.

You can spray this on your face in the morning and at night as part of your skin care routine and pop this in your handbag to refresh your skin as the day goes by when you want a pick me up.

I never understood how you could pop this can into your handbag. How big does your handbag need to be? I didn’t see a travel size in South Africa, but there is one. So you can pop THAT into your handbag. It is formulated without – Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates  The scientific stuff that is probably meant to impress you and while you read it, it usually doesn’t make sense but it sounds tested and graded and has been to a lab and stuff, so there is the feeling that this is the real deal and cutting edge technology. Like Vitamin Water, I mean . . . enough said.

Claims: ‘ Vitamin B6 normalizes overactive cell-signaling proteins (called cytokines) to help control sebum production, vitamin E provides antioxidants, and willow bark (rich in natural salicylic acid) supports natural cell turnover. ‘

Here’s my attempt at pretending to be an over-achiever (even though my only claim to that fame is that I married a genius) Salicylic acid is used to treat acne, so this is great for preventing and controlling breakouts.

Cytokines have anti-inflammatory properties, which soothe redness and skin irritation. Minimizing pores? . . . When I used this it didn’t minimize anything. That’s all the scientific jargon, also known and nerd-lish this is a Beauty Bugle copyrighted word), for this post.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Is this worth the money? It does come with a hefty price tag (I have come to realize that Urban Decay is far from a ssshhhep brand) and for that price I expect a single spray to give me Pearl Fraxel treatment . . .

However, it works. It does absorb nicely into the skin and feels great. Do I think you need this? NO! If you have a good skincare regime, you don’t. There are plenty of cheaper skincare alternatives on the market. Avene Thermal Water is great, buy a spray bottle from Dischem with a fine nozzle, spritz your face with chilled rose water, tap water, bottled water (the Still kind) and if your feeling rebellious, Vitamin Water (Just kidding . . . about the Vitamin Water)? Also drink water (not kidding about that), this will help to plump, firm and hydrate your skin.

I feel that the reviews of the new UD I bought at the recent launch, recently, haven’t been positive. I feel like that Negative Nelly . . . but you know I keep it real! So far, I have liked the popular, hyped up products. I also think it boils down to what brands are most famous for. When I think Urban Decay, I think eye shadows, Naked Skin Concealer and Perversion eyeliner, they are iconic to this brand and for good reason . . . proof, we still lust after and buy those . . .

I know many of you wanted comparisons to MAC Fix plus and this spray and that Bosso Ke Mang (Whose the boss product battle) is coming soon. Will I repurchase? No. Not because it doesn’t hydrate, but because, I can live without it. I’ll still stick with the free or cheaper ways to refresh and cool my skin.

Do you think you will pick up this B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray or spray some rose water on your face?
