Take it all off! Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics {Review and Swatches}

nakedultimatecover

With its rose gold case . . . you’d expect this eyeshadow palette to be all bling . . .

But . . . Bling is NOT but it’s definitely not BLAH! The Naked Ultimate Basics is an
all-matte eyeshadow palette. Urban Decay has out the Naked Basics 1 and 2 but the shades in this palette are all brand spanking new!

Urban Decay  listened to Urbanettes who have been requesting a matte palette with their favourite shades from the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

There are palette  12 stunning shades and the palette has been touted as the palette with must-have neutrals.

Naked Ultimate Basics features a true range of neutral mattes, from cool to warm.

The packing is a stunning rose gild with the logo embossed on the cover with the largest mirror I’ve seen on this size of palette. You and your bestie can do your makeup with it . . . AT THE SAME TIME! It also comes with a high-quality dual-ended brush. One side for blending and the other side for smoking out the lower lash line.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I am a fan of all-matte eyeshadow palettes. I recently reviewed the Smashbox Photo Matte Eyes palette and I love Becca Ombre Nudes palette and the tarte tartiest palette. I love the Smashbox Photo Op matte eyeshadow formula and nothing has come close to it.

But the eyeshadow formula in the Naked Ultimate Basics give Smashbox a run for their money.

The beauty is that the shades are neutral enough for cool skin tones to olive complexions to darker skin. If you are dark like me, you know how ashy some matte colours look if they bother to pull up to the party at all. The variety of shades equates to a variety of looks from simple and soft day looks to smouldering and sexy looks to light up the night.

The Urban Decay mattes do not skip and blend effortlessly, one shade is a bit patchy.

This is attributed to every shade in the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics featuring the proprietary Pigment Infusion System™, which gives the formula its velvety texture, rich colour, serious staying power and blendability.

The burning question is . . . do you need it? No, if you don’t have another matte palette.

This is a great palette to invest in if you don’t have an all-matte eyeshadow palette and you like using mattes for more than just transition shades. The shade selection warrants this being a great purchase. I know, y’all going: So what about Smashbox, you hypocrite? The Smashbox Photo Op matte formula is still the best in my opinion  . . . but the shade selection on the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics sets this apart from the other all matte palettes I own. I love the shades Extra Bitter, Lethal and Blow . . . when you read that, it doesn’t sound right, does it? But it is what it is.

I wish they sold Bitter Sweet and Lethal singles, that would be a great edition to any matte eyeshadow palette. If they listened to the Urbanites, perhaps they will.

It is the cheapest all matte palette on the South African market at the moment, I think you should pick up this one if you’re a die-hard Urbanette or investing in an all-matte palette. #YouLookBetterNaked, now that’s a compliment I’d like to hear . . . maybe it’s just me . . . but I doubt it ! lol

Where to buy: Urban Decay FFS or lookout for the popup online store www.urbandecaystore.co.za

Will you be picking the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette or do you have one already or don’t like matte eye shadow palettes?
