The first time I held the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal in my hands, I looked at it and fell in love. I swatched it and I was star-struck. I was moon-struck when I swatched the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector pressed in Moonstone, but not in the one-leap-for-makeup-mankind kind of way.
It’s a muted white gold with a hint of champagne. If you don’t like goldie highlighters, you won’t like Moonstone.
The shade isn’t the most unique I have seen, it’s like a softer version of The Balm’s Mary LouManiser. It has a lot of kick back when you try to pick up product. I used a fan brush and it was like I was smoking some Moonstone. When I used the Real Techniques setting brush to apply the product, it gave the most opacity.
It comes in the same hard chocolate brown plastic mirrored compact with the metal UFO top that has the BECCA logo on top and bottom of the metal round.
The compact has the same metal UFO top that has the BECCA logo on top and bottom of the metal round that all the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors (pressed) have.
The formula is not as creamy as Becca’s Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector pressed and leans more powdery and chalky.
However, if you do spritz some MAC Fix+ over your face or any hydrating mist after you’re done with your make up, it does sit better on the skin and glistens like you are dancing in the Moonlight.
I applied his to this the tops of my cheekbones, a touch on the tip of my nose and above my cupid’s bow, because mama loves full lips! This will no doubt suit lighter-skinned lasses better because it does leave a white cast if you are deeper in complexion. If you have golden tan skin, you may be able to pull this off
Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the formula and while the colour didn’t suit me the best, it is beautiful. It makes for a great eye shadow, and a brow bone and inner corner highlight. I think dusting it over the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone will add an extra oomph and va va voooom and perhaps take away the powdery feel and ashy look. Applied over a cream highlighter, like MAC’s cream colour base (Pearl, Hush or Shell) will also have a similar effect.
I still prefer Opal to Moonstone, because it is creamier, more intense, suits a wider variety if skin tones and I love the ‘wet’ look it gives with just one application.

Yes I say this all the time when it comes to Becca, it’s SSSSPENSIVE, but Becca is a luxury brand and it doesn’t come cheap. But if you are into highlighters, you won’t mind shelling out for these!
Dupes: I have yet to stumble on one that has the same formula but there are several golden highlighters on the market in term of getting the same shade.
Have you tried Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Monnstone in the pressed form? How did you find it? Would you go out and buy it?
Do you have a dupe? Let me know, down below!
Until next time, I love you all. Stay blessed and beautiful (with your highlighter on fleek!)
