Hot and Single! You need these eyeshadows in your life!

Drugstore palettes, mini palettes are becoming popular in South Africa. There are 6-pan eye shadow palettes and, notably, the LA Girl Shimmer bricks, which are full-blown large palettes. However, in my experience, I find most of them lacking in solid, matte highlight shades, warm matte brown/warm transition shades and solid ride or die matte blacks.

Also, I rarely see anyone rave about those hidden gems that are great worn alone for a quick and easy eye look. Here are my top drugstore singles eyeshadows I think you should have in your collection.

Transition shades

NYX Nude Matte Shadows (Blame it on Midnight): This brown shade is great for warming up any eye shadow. look and is the perfect transition colour for my dark skin tone.

Essence Mono eyeshadow (15 Triple Choc)

I love the formula of this essence eye shadow single. It is smooth and blends easily.

This light brown is on the cool side and makes for a great transition colour for cool-toned eye looks and is also great for diffusing and softening harsh edges of deeper colours. This shades works fabulously when doing smokey eyes, especially withs deep blues, purples and greens.

Solid matte must-haves

(Left) Wet n Wild single eyeshadow (Brulee) – This shade is great to apply all over the lid, to set your eye shadow base as well as diffuse dark shades that you may have taken to far up over the crease – hey, you can’t have too many eraser shades! It also makes for a stunning brow bone highlight.

Finding a smooth matte black eye shadow at the drugstore has always been a struggle for me and Wet n Wild single eyeshadow (Panther) has, so far, been the best I have tried to date. It is very black and makes for a great eyeliner when used wet. This is the best black for an intense smoky eye.

One and Done

We all have those lazy days when we can’t be asked to do a full eye look, or maybe you just like minimal makeup. No shame, no shade!

All over lid shades with a little bronzer in the crease are:goldquartznutty

Wet n Wild single eye shadow (Nutty) – Mid tone taupe (total dupe for MAC’s Satin Taupe).

L’Oreal L’Ombre Pure Color Riche Mono (502 Quartz Fume)  – This a gorgeous shimmery taupe, which is a great all over the lid shade. The texture is very smooth and it quite metallic. Great for an evening out!

L’Oreal L’Ombre Pure Color Riche Mono (Lumiere -500 Gold Mania) – this is a beautiful gold with peachy pink reflects that shimmers during the day that is not obnoxious making it acceptable to wear to the office without giving your boss a coronary. Take this eyeshadow to another level and add a b lackwinged liner and loads of mascara (or flasies) and you will be ready to paint the town red.

Above are two single eye shadows that haves also stolen my heart!

L’Oreal L’Ombre Pure Color Riche Mono (Smokey – 302 Die For Chocolate) – This is a true wonder. Applied all over the lid with minimal blending with a bit of bronzer gives you the perfect brown smoky eye that will never go out of style. It has a shimmer but again, noting offensive. This shadow can create an eyeshadow look like you have spent a lot of time on your eyes, a classic case of   minimal effort and maximum impact!

L’Oreal L’Ombre Pure Color Riche Mono (Chameleon – 601 Soleil Levant) – This is a wild card shade that is unique, with duo chrome reflects. Use it alone on the lid or layer it on to of any eye shadow to jazz it up and add an ethereal glow and dimension to even the most flat, matte shades.

Those are my favourite single guys and I have many more (That doesn’t sound right). Do you feel like me that many drugstore palettes are filled will shimmer and don’t quite make the cut with having one or two solid shades that tie it all together. (I will say though that the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette is perhaps the best palette I have ever used from the drugstore, so I’m leaving that out of the list).

What single drugstore eyeshadows are your ride or die or do you think I am just being high-maintenance, which , if you have been following me for a while, you know I am just that!

Until next time, stay blessed and beautiful

Love you like I’m single and ready to mingle
