Royal Vibes! Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow { Review and Swatches}

Purple and Gold are colours often associated with royalty, so when I took a first look at the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow , that’s exactly what I thought of. I am the queen of my castle and my Mr D (my long-suffering hubby knows this) knows this!  There’s something about luxe packaging that gets me . . . sure it’s ssssspensive AF but wearing or using luxury makeup is an experience for me. Then there’s the difference between class and A$$, which is the first bit of advice that my first model boss gave me. Screen Siren or ‘IT Girl’? I’d choose screen siren any day of the work-week, ok maybe on Sundays too. Saturdays nights are a different a story.

UK celebrity make up artist Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup and skincare products are high end, and not just like Sandton high-end, Camps Bay and Contantia high-end!

First off, there are two shades, the original and one for deep er skin tones. I have the original. Onto the packaging, compact is gold not real gold but you know what I mean. On the middle of the lid is a diamond shaped symbol with stripes that mimic the look of rays of sun. If you look at it, panning the compact from side to side, it’s mesmerizing and, dare I say, hypnotic.

Open this bronzer and a highlighter compact and you are greeted with two generously sized sculpt and highlight shades. There is also a full-sized mirror. The compact doesn’t have a magnetic closure but it snaps shut and it’s solid and sturdy so it’s safe for travel.charttilburyfilmstarswated

The powders are finely milled, and silky, and soft but not super soft and creamy to the point that it would crumble. Being on the darker side, I wasn’t sure if the sculpt shade would show on my NC42 skin.

The sculpt shade, is not too warm or too cool. It’s a perfect hybrid of a sculpt /bronzer. It is a mid-tone brown with slight warm undertones on me.

The highlighter is a light gold that isn’t frosty. It isn’t like Becca’s Opal, with the high shine metallic, wet look, it is softer but not powdery. It’s perfect to give you a glow that won’t blind anyone but it’s noticeable enough to show up and turn heads.

You can build it up but it’s not chalky, which is something that often happens with powders that are not super soft.

Both powders melt into the skin and look part of the skin as you wear it. It blends easily. The highlighter is luminous and the powder satin.

This isn’t a need item, it’s a want item. It’s a beautiful luxury compact that is ideal for someone who doesn’t like stark highlighters and prefers a more natural contour/bronzer. It’s convenient for travel because it has a highlight and bronzer in one compact. The texture of the powders is beautiful but the colours are dupable. That said, if you do like an elegant look that looks effortless as opposed to trying too hard, this little treasure for you.

 Where to buy: Selected Charlotte Tilbury stockists. You can use third party courier or buy it off amazon or re-seller.

Price: It varies depending from where you buy. But it retails at $68 USD on www. (This is just to give you a price reference beause beautylish does not ship to South Africa) Who knows, Charlotte Tilbury may hit our stores? Dreams can/may come true.

I paid R1200 for mine from a re-seller. ( She’s not sheepp!)

If you are looking for some thing comparable in terms of the concept of this product, I suggest taking a look at the Becca Lowlight/Hightlight Perfecting Palette (pressed). They are not dupes in colour or the amount of product, but this is also worth looking into.

Do you think that you will hunt down the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow or do you know of some dupes for it?

Until next time, stay blessed and beautiful

Love you all like I love luminous skin
