The scene is set, you’re at the club, that black dress is making your butt look awesome and you nailed your smoky eye and your skin’s looking amazing, last time you checked in the car on the way to the club! You arrive in all your sex-goddess glory and spot a hot guy at the bar. He’s drinking fine whiskey, on the rocks. Yip, he’s marriage material! It’s a bit dark but you start showing off your moves and he joins in on your jive. He asks if you can buy you a drink. You agree and tell him you’ll meet him in 5min, because you have to go to the ladies. You gather your girlfriends and like giggling schoolgirls you quickly give them the run down of your meeting with ‘whiskey boy’. Then you look in the mirror! And your jaw drops and heart races . . . why?
Because you look like a hot mess! Your foundation has caked up around your nose, it’s creased around your mouth and has started sliding off, showing bare skin, your mascara is running (it said waterproof, but clearly) and your panda eyes make you shriek in horror . . . yes make up meltdown can give you heart palpitations. That should be listed as a warning on make up products, don’t you think?
Enter the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray . . . it promises to make up your make up stay put for 16 hours! I haven’t worn it that long but I will say that it stays on for a good 10 hours, no problem. It comes in a white, plastic, spray bottle with purple lettering and a purple cap. There are also loads of claims printed on the back of the bottle.
The setting spray is the ‘hairspray for your make up kinda spray’ not to confused with a hydrating mist like the Urban Decay B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Spray or MAC Fix +
It claims to be suitable for all skin types and I have to agree. I have dry, sensitive skin and it worked for me. This is usually a good test because hairspray-style setting sprays have a tendency to irritate my skin, cling on to any dry patches and ‘cake up, my cake face?’ Make sense? This, on first contact with the skin, has a hydrating and soothing effect on the skin, that doesn’t last long. While it claims that it doesn’t dry down tacky, it has a slight stickiness to it, but it’s not annoying. I like this because to means the products have a little’ glue’ not ‘super glue’ to stick to.
There is also no white residue that some makeup setting sprays leave. This spray is developed in an exclusive partnership with SKINDINÄVIA, the mother of all setting sprays.
I think the most impressive thing is the fine mist it sprays at the right pressure. There’s no recoil after spraying this. It’s so easy to use: if you can draw an ‘x’ and a ‘t’, Wait, CAPS lock must be on, so ‘X’ and ‘T’, you are sorted!
Nerd-lish
It features patented Temperature Control Technology. (This explains the cooling sensation on the skin once you spray it, it’s very refreshing but dries don’t fast) It actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eye shadow, blush, and concealer in place—even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or night) without melting, cracking, fading, or settling into fine lines.
It is formulated without, Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates.
Overall Thoughts
The Urban Decay All Night Setting Spray is phenomenal! It one of the best I have used. I can safely say that this is better and better than Kryolan’s pro make up setting spray (True story. It is a must-have item from Urban Decay. Warning: Once you spray, you won’t be able to stay away!
Price: R450 for 118ml – She is not sssshheeeep!
Where to buy: Urban Decay Store in Sandton City. Store in Cape Town will be opening soon. There is no online store available at this time.
Do you think you would buy this or would you rather a cheaper alternative from NYX? I really don’t like the NYX setting spray, it’s like spraying vodka on your face. I used it a few times and that was that. It’s in my cupboard, so I may give it another shot (No pun intended)!
Quick Tip, Spray some of the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray onto your face after you have applied your foundation. the pat your face through with a damp beauty sponge. This will lock down your foundation and keep it in place!!!!
Comparable/Possible Dupe: Alila Fix that Make up setting spray. But wait for the proper comparison coming later today .
Until next time,
Stay Bless and Beautiful
I love you all as much as I hate make up meltdown

Awesome post! I hate when my make up cracks on the laugh lines around my lips and because my skin is uneven there it looks worse
Thank you so much sweetheart for commenting and your feedback . . . Oooooh it happens to me too . . . try putting the least amount of powder in that area. You can use a beauty blender to apply the power or spray a finishing spray on your face and dab it in with the sponge. It helps 🙂 xoxo Prativa
I have the beauty fix setting spray buy have not noticed much of a difference , need to get myself a beauty blender , im currently using the oval brushes.
I haven’t tried the Beauty Fix spray, that next on my list. A damp sponge works best because it really presses the product into the skin and sets it! xxxx
I own the NYX dewy setting spray – not impressed 🙁
My Avon setting spray is cheaper and performs better.
But it sounds to me that the UD one is the cherry on top!!
Yip I have both and i and v dissapointed. I have both and both dry matte and the booze smell, yoh. Yip the UD is impressive. Thank u sweetheart for the feedback Love Prativa
