Rock and keep rollin’ Maybelline Rock Nudes {Review and Swatches}

I’m not particularly into rock music . . . I’m more of an RnB, Hip Hop, Rap kind of girl. That said I do like Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and Queen is my favourite band of all time. Mmmmm, I guess I am into rock, some what . . . What I am into BIG time is makeup!

I was very excited when I stumbled upon the Maybelline The Rock Nudes™ Eyeshadow palette.

I have been hoping and praying that Maybelline would bring these palettes to South Africa, I mean, who else gets green with envy when you watch a YouTube tutorial with these palettes? I can shamelessly say that I do.

If you are a beginner, there are handy instructions on how to use the palette as a quad, trio or duo, and these are on point.

The packaging is meh . . . but its functional, on par with other drugstore eyeshadow palettes.

It’s compact and I would only travel with it if it is in a secure makeup bag.

This a cool-toned palette, much like the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette and while the shades comparable and you can achieve similar looks, it’s not a dupe in terms of quality . . .

Overall thoughts

This is a good pallete, which is definitely more opaque than the LA Girl palettes, which need a lot of building up to get decent colour payoff.

The mattes in the Maybelline The Rock Nudes™ are creamy, the dark shades are hit and miss, with the chocolate brown and the black applying smoothly and not patchy.

I stand by what I say that the wet n wild 8 pan palettes are still the most pigmented eyeshadows in my opinion, the drawback is that there are no matte shades in those, and this gives the Maybelline The Rock Nudes™  the slight edge.

Where to buy: Selected Clicks and Dischem stores and Maybelline counters across the country

Price: R250

oh …  and rocking!
