Unicorn tears . . . Becca’s Shimmering skin Perfector (Moonstone)

beccashimmeringskinperfectoralone

It will give you a glow like nothing else . . . ethereal almost . . . made from unicorn tears and fairy dust!

Marketed as a moisturizer, this liquid gold champagne/ muted gold) creates an instant radiance when applied to the skin. Mixed in with foundation, it breathes luminous life into it. Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone has light diffusing particles that reduces the look of imperfections and brings out your skin’s a healthy glow.

Water-based, this moisturizer quenches the skin and absorbs evenly into it.

And your body needn’t get jealous of your face; you can use it all over your body too, and shimmer on the beach in golden glory or to the office, depending on where you work and what time . . .

Yes, it can do all that and dotted along your cheekbones, it will accentuate those high points and when the light hits that, you won’t look like you’re in the spotlight, rather, you will look like the heavens have opened up and that light has embraced you. On the topic of the heavens, it does have SPF20, so you will get some protection from the sun; however, I suggest using a separate sunscreen under it, just to be safe.

Now, that's so serious glow!
Now, that’s so serious glow!

The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone will suit a wide variety of skin tones but really flatter those with a medium or tan skin. If you are deeper, you can still pull this off but the finish will be a bit more of a highlighter than an illuminator. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Moonstone has a thick, creamy texture that sheers out easily and dries to the most beautiful sheen.

It comes in a sleek rubberized tube with a rubberized top that has a metal centre with Becca etched around the top and bottom of the circle. It comes with a metal pump that pumps out a bit too much product. If you want to mix it in with your foundation, all you need is half a pump at most. This is my favourite way of wearing this. I wear full coverage foundation and this, when mixed into it, sheers it out and adds dimension to what would have looked a bit flat.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Moonstone is a sure winner!
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Moonstone is a sure winner!

Overall, this is a magical, multi-purpose product, I think is definitely worth the splurge. It remains one of Becca’s bestsellers and for good reason. Go on, try it and unleash your inner golden Goddess!

Soft sweep! Becca Mineral Blush (Flowerchild)

Yes, more Becca beauty . . . I just can’t get enough! Becca’s Mineral blush feels soft, very soft . . . and it’s amazing how pigmented the shade, Flowerchild, is.

Becca’s Mineral Blush in Flowerchild
Becca’s Mineral Blush in Flowerchild

It’s a pinky/peachy sheeny blush that looks extremely intimidating in the pan, but it morphs into a spectacular flush of colour on the cheeks! I find that many pinky blushes can look slightly ashy on dark skin like mine, but not this one. The colour is not true to pan – it’s lighter on application and after blending. It looks very natural. Flowerchild has a hint of micro-fine glitter that gives a touch of luminosity and shimmer to the skin. (This seems to be the signature trademark of all the Becca products I’ve tried to date.)

Becca’s Mineral Blush in Flowerchild comes in a mirrored compact.

I learnt the hard way to use a very light hand with this blush. As a general rule, it’s better to go in lightly with blush and gradually build up the colour to the intensity you want. I just went in, guns blazing and I will admit, I looked like a circus runaway . . . not cute! That said, I think this is a blush that will suit all skin tones and a light dusting on the cheeks is perfect for the day and built up (gradually), it makes for a stunning colour to wear at night.

Becca’s Mineral Blush in Flowerchild looks very deep when swatched but leaves a natural flush when blended out!

It is long-wearing and on me lasted a good 8 hours before I noticed slight fading.

It comes in a small compact with a tiny mirror. The same UFO metal top, with Becca engraved on it. It is a durable hard plastic compact but I wouldn’t toss it in a bag when travelling because while its packaging isn’t flimsy, the blush is so finely milled and soft, it may shatter if not handled with care. Putting it in a make up bag is best, for added protection.

The packaging has that army, space age thing going for it . . . but what's inside counts :)

There are two drawbacks to this blush. One drawback is the kickback of the powder, if you dip your brush into the pan too hard. I suggest gently tapping the product with a soft brush to avoid a cloud of pink – I mean, if you’re investing in something pricey, you wouldn’t want to waste a bit. Yes, it’s sssssssspensive but then again, Becca isn’t a budget brand. For reference, a regular MAC Mineralize Blush costs R300 for 3,5g of product while with Becca, you get 6g of product for R320. Yes, the compact looks tiny but it’s deceptive . . .

beccablushflowerchildname

It is a luxury buy in my opinion, but if you like blush and mineral make up Becca’s Mineral Blush in Flowerchild would be a great addition to your blush collection. Is it a must-have? Hell, no! Is it a lust-have? YASSSSSS!

Colour Player! Becca Mineral Blush (Wild Honey)

There are somethings in life that you really want to love . . . but you just like . . .

Becca Mineral Blush in Wild Honey.
Becca Mineral Blush in Wild Honey.

This is the case with Becca’s Mineral Blush in Wild Honey. Getting your hands on one of these if difficult because it is one of Beauty Guru Jaclyn Hill’s favourite blushes of life . . . and it is beautiful . . . on her, it looks gorgeous BUT it’s not brown-girl friendly! That said, it’s not a total write-off but it is interesting . . .

Becca Mineral Blush Wild Honey looks like a mini shimmering skin ferfector pressed. Super cute!
Becca Mineral Blush Wild Honey looks like a mini shimmering skin ferfector pressed. Super cute!

The packing is super cute . . . it has the same durable plastic in chocolate brown with the metal top on the mirrored compact like the pressed shimmering skin perfectors. The word Becca appears on the top and bottom halves of the metal top. This little guy packs in 6g of finely milled and super soft, luxurious powder.

Becca Mineral Blush (Wild Honey) comes in a mirrored compact, not that you can see much in the teeny tiny mirror!

The word Becca appears on the top and bottom halves of the metal top.

The UFO makes an appearance once again.
The UFO makes an appearance once again.

This little guy packs in 6g of finely milled and supersoft, luxurious powder. But that’s just the beginning of the deception . . .

In the pan, it looks like a deep golden brown with a hint of peach. On a finger swatch, it looks like a chalky hot mess.

Becca’s Mineral Blush in Wild Honey looks like a bronzy peach shade in the pan.
Becca’s Mineral Blush in Wild Honey looks like a bronzy peach shade in the pan.

Swatched on my arm, it looks orange and blended out, it looks like nothing, on my arm that is.

Where did that ORANGE come from?
Where did that ORANGE come from?

When applied to the cheeks though, it looks like bronzer with a hint of peach and it’s not chalky but has a beautiful luminosity. I know, this is a chameleon of a blush! It’s a damn tease!

For reference I am a NC40 in MAC and this just about shows up on my skin in a very soft-focused way. It definitely adds warmth to my skin. This blush will suit medium to fair beauties and should give a healthy glow to the cheeks, no highlighter required! For anyone darker than an NC42, I highly doubt this will show up. If it does, it will look like fairy dust you can buy at CNA for R10!

Like all Becca products I’ve tried so far, the texture feels soft and luxurious. It’s so soft to the point that there is a lot of kick back of the powder. You will be left is a smoky haze if you are too aggressive with this powder blush. I suggest using a light hand and a soft brush. Tap your brush rather than swirl it around in the pan before you apply it so you won’t waste this sssssssspensive blush.

It’s not an epic fail, not by a long shot . . . Becca’s powder products are of a high quality so I don’t regret this buy because it is pretty and does look nice on my skin for an everyday kind of sheen. I won’t reach for it everyday, but I will reach for it . . .

That said, at the end of the day, I bought a blush and if I wanted a bronzer with some sheen, I would have bought one!
