Essence Hello Autumn Collection Beauti-Fall or Beauti-Fail?

Wow! Although it feels like we have skipped autumn this year and jumped straight from a cool summer to winter, the Essence Hello Autumn collection makes you see those beautiful brown leaves that’s paying us a visit in Mzansi.

I got these at Clicks on Saturday.

Here’s what I picked up the Hello Autumn multi colour powder, the colour adapting powder blush in Beauti-fall Red as well as the lip cream in C02 Keep Calm and Go for a Walk and Thermo Effect nail polish in the shade of the same name.

Let’s get into the Thermo Effect nail polish. This nail polish uses body temperature to turn the beautiful nude shade into orange as your body heats up! I was worried that this may have only worked when I had a fever but I didn’t have to go to the doctor to see this baby in action.

When applied, it’s streaky, so the formula is not impressive. I didn’t use a base or top coat as I thought this would have an effect on the colour changing properties. This is a downside for me because I always wear a bottom and top coat so I missed having that added protection and didn’t like the idea of staining my nails. It did went from a pinky nude to a, peachy nude. . that wasn’t so much of a colour difference. I then rubbed my finger over one of my painted nails and it turned into a bright, orange/pink, which didn’t flatter my skin tone. But the whole chameleon thing it’s got going on definitely works

C02 Keep Calm and Go for a Walk and Thermo Effect nail polish turned a darker shade, more on the peach orange side.

The colour adapting powder blush was something I was skeptical about.

Onto the colour changing blush . .

Being dark-skinned, I didn’t think the pale pink/ivory shimmering powder in the shade 01 Beauti-Fall Red, would show up. Essence says this blush adjusts to the pH of the skin to get a custom natural pink tone that will stain the skin.

A powder cheek stain? Well how did it fare? It works and beautifully soon me it turns a very deep pink/almost reddish, which really adds a flush of prettiness to the skin. However, use a light hand. This is one time being hot is not cool! Definitely a winner in my books. Again, I didn’t need to have a fever for this to show up J

Seeing is believing!!!!!

With liquid lippies taking over the make up world, I gravitated to the lip cream, which is a rosy nude, perfect for my brown skin.

It has a semi matte finish and I was interested to see how drying this would be and whether or not it would cake up at the corners of my mouth, which often happened with cream lipsticks. Also the wear time on this baby was important to me. Why because with lip creams and liquid lipsticks, the more you reapply, the worse it looks, it gets all cakey and gloopy and that’s not attractive, reserved only for Halloween. Think of it like painting nail polish over nail polish like for times. It because too think and smudges. The same goes for lip creams. Well it’s a pretty colour, but the formula is awful. It’s very drying on the lips and not as opaque as I thought it would be.

The consistency when swatched is fair but when applied to the lips it cakes up and if you have dry skin, forget about trying to make it work with lip balm, stay away from it. . Like run like the wind and do not buy this. If you have hydrated lips you may get some wear out of this. It doesn’t dry matte or semi-matte, it’s just nasty in my opinion.

But like in most movies, there will be a hero and The Essence Hello Autumn multi colour powder in 01 Autumn & The City is just that.

It looks so darn pretty. The compact has a pretty leaf pattern covering the entire top surface.

All the colours in the The Essence Hello Autumn multi colour powder swirled and swatched heavily. looks a bit bit chalky.

The leaves are brown, creamy beige and dark brown and pale gold and when swatched, the powder has a pale gold shimmer that blends out evenly onto the skin.

I use it as a highlighter, but this can definitely be dusted all over the face for an all over radiance.

The individual shades can also be worn as eye shadows

Mwah! These lippies don’t lie!

Nothing can liven up your mood like a great lippie! And one at a great price will keep up that mood for a month! As you well know if you’re following my Wet ‘n Wild adventures, I also found some great lipsticks at Clicks!

wnwlipsname

First up is the Wet n Wild Mega last lipsticks
These lipsticks claim to be a 4-hour, longwearing lip color. Now that’s a winner right there, a lipstick that doesn’t claim to last 24 hours on your lips that fit’s the time frame? Respect Wet n Wild, respect!
At last none of those 25-hour claims, a time frame that’s real, it does last that long, maybe a little longer actually

I got the shades: Bare It All: a medium pink-toned brown nude with warm undertones. This is a complete dupe for MAC’s Kinda Sexy.
Coral-line: a reddish coral shade.
Both these colours are universally flattering in my opinion because neither is overwhelming. I usually get one dark and one light colour to test out before I buy the lot!

The colour payoff on these guys are extreme It great for pigmented lips and the semi matte formula looks dead on It’s more forgiving than other matte lipsticks it doesn’t over-emphasize lines, especially on dry cracked lips. Well, you should prep your lips with a lip balm in any case. Usually matte formulas pull on the lips when applying them. But these velvety lippies glide on like a dream and certainly feel more comfortable on the lips. Matte lippies also have a tendency to cake up on the corners of the mouth when you re-apply, it can look gloopy and crusty. I also tried wearing it without a lip liner and it didn’t feather or bleed, another of the claims that it lives up to.

Wet n Wild claims that these lipsticks are made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.
This explains the formula and staying power!
My one gripe is the packaging. It plastic but the bottom on the tube is a sturdier plastic. The cover is flimsy and see-through. However the worst thing is that the lippies don’t turn all the way down so you can easily nick and graze it if you’re not careful.

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Pink Nouveau

When I saw this shade I immediately thought of MAC’s Girl About Town.
Pink Nouveau is a blue-based bubblegum pink color. It has a very creamy finish with a very subtle shine. It glides on the lips a bit too easily so I suggest wearing a lip liner with this one. It is very opaque and two swipes to completely cover my pigmented lips. The wear time not good. It’s one of those lippies you need to reapply after you eat it drink anything. You know, it that lipstick where if you leave your coffee mug anywhere, everyone knows it’s yours. Bust my coffee mug, now that’s a good story if there was one. However, because it’s so opaque it does stain your lips so if you eat it completely, you still have some colour.
. The packaging is not great. The lipstick doesn’t turn all the way down. So you know that cap is going to graze the lipstick. I all shook the lipstick and heard it move. But it was solid, when I applied it. Bizarre, right?

I’d give this a go, because they have really bright colours in the line and if you want to try them out without spending a fortune, this is for you
Price: R24, 99 (I know, it’s amazing!)
